Me to We Presents...
Help the Homeless this December 1. Bring in new mitts, gloves and socks to decorate our tree in the lobby. Items can be brought in until December 20th. 2. On Tuesday, December 12th, it will cost you to wear your hat. Pay $2 and you will be allowed to wear your hat for the day. The money collected will be used to support the homeless in Calgary. Thank you for your support Ms. Burkell and Ms. Nelson It's the perfect time of year to loom - and why not do it with friends?
Grade. 5 & 6 students are invited to bring their lunch and to join Ms. Lewis for a lunch of looming in the Library (and, yes, due to special circumstances, we will be eating in the Library!). Students can bring their rainbow loom supplies from home or they can bring a knitting loom and yarn. I'll bring in some stuff from home to help teach how to knit a hat or legwarmers, but it's much easier if each student brings in their own supplies. For advance crochet-ers and knitters, I might not be too much help, but you can certainly join in the fun! Expert parents are also welcome! So excited, Ms. Lewis This is definitely a short, busy, complicatedly wonderful week!
RTA's lunch has gone through several changes during these past few months. Here are the most recent updates:
Open Gym (12:10-12:30): Monday - Grade 5 Tuesday - Grade 6 Wednesday - Grade 7 Thursday- Grades 8 & 9 Please click on the attachment for information regarding the National Sports' School Open House.

Dearest Parents & Guardians, RTA will be holding it's school Remembrance Day Assembly on Friday, November 10th, commencing at 10:30 AM. Every student will be given a poppy prior to the assembly. We hope that all students are able to bring a loonie or a tonnie for the poppy donation boxes. Also, we are still collecting dried/tinned goods for the Veteran's Food Bank; a central box is located in front of the Office. Thank you, Brenda Lewis Parents & Guardians,
As the weather is changing, please remember to make sure that your child/ren are appropriate dressed for the weather and have winter jackets, winter boots, hats, gloves, etc. CBE Policy re Outdoor Breaks at School: We recognize the value of outdoor breaks; however, when the weather is cold, outdoor breaks may not be a viable option. When temperatures reach -20 Celsius or colder, including the wind-chill factor, it is recommended that students remain inside. The -20 Celsius guideline is comparable to other school jurisdictions in Alberta and across Canada. Thank you and keep warm! Happy Halloween! Attached, below, is a very informative School Council Fall Newletter. Not only will it keep you updated with what's happening in School Council this year; hopefully, it will encourage you to come join and to share your voice at the next meeting, Thursday, November 6th, 2017 Don't eat too much candy, B. Lewis
RTA teachers will be introducing Science Fair today, brainstorming possibilities . All students in the Science Alternative Program will be expected to participate in a Science Fair-like project, with many proceeding to CYSF at the University of Calgary. Students in the Regular Program are also encouraged to put on their lab coats and join in the fun! Students participating in Science Fair will be bringing home a Parent Letter today. (I've attached it to this notice as well). There will be a school-wide Celebration of Learning in February. Please let us know if you would be willing to mentor a student or if you would be willing to be a judge. Thank you, B. Lewis
